New Year 2012 Fast

As we enter into the new year it’s traditional to look back and reflect on the previous year. This, of course, is a good and right thing to do. But it is also important to look ahead; to lean into the future that dangles out in front of us.

This year our way of doing that is through a church-wide fast. You may fast whatever you like, the important thing is to deny your “flesh” something that it wants as an act of worship, self- discipline, and faith as you inquire of God concerning this coming year.

Specifically, I would like us to focus as a faith family on being transformed by the holy love of God so completely that we refuse to withhold it from others any longer. This, I believe, is the journey we are embarking on together as a church.

So let’s take this week, January 2 – 8 and press in closer to Jesus asking Him to define us.  That we might know who we are not because we have searched our hearts and found the answers, or because the world has constrained us.  But rather that we would be defined by the love of our great God poured out on us through Jesus.
